Jennifer Stevenson, MA
An authentic connection with another is a direct avenue to growth and healing. The therapeutic relationship – the you-and-me, here-and-now – is ideally this type of connection. My goal is to offer warmth, nurturing and acceptance. I also hope to challenge you, the client(s), to examine patterns of thinking, feeling or relating that no longer work effectively in your life. My eclectic style of therapy uses evidence-based methods within a developmental and systems framework, while emphasizing collaborative and solution focused approaches. I am a license-eligible counselor with a Master of Science (M.S.) in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University.
I welcome youth, adults, families, and couples, and I also offer psychological/educational evaluation services. I have supported clients experiencing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship and communication difficulties, anger management, sexuality issues, substance use/abuse, low self-esteem, trauma, general stress management, symptoms of a serious mental illness, and youth/adults who have been incarcerated and/or court-mandated to attend therapy. Having worked in a variety of settings, I appreciate a wide perspective on the needs of individuals from every walk of life, in many different situations and with many different goals for healing and growth. I will strive to understand you, your unique individual needs, and partner with you to effect the change you desire in a manner most meaningful to you.
If you are seeking to resolve any issues in your daily walk, please do not hesitate to contact me.
