“We all have the ability to heal ourselves, given the right tools. Her approach is holistic, integrative, strengths-based, and person-centered.”

Elizabeth McCARTHY, MS, LCPC

My goal in working with adults and groups is to join and guide them through the process of finding their inner strength, ability to empower themselves, and create and attain personal goals. Based in a philosophy of self-healing, my approach is holistic, integrative, strengths-based, and person-centered. I draw from experience and training in evidence based practices, such as cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, psychodynamic, exposure therapy, expressive arts, and mindfulness therapies. Clients who have experienced trauma, been diagnosed or have symptoms of a personality disorder, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, substance use, and schizophrenia would benefit from working with me based on 17 years of experience and training with these concerns. I also worked with adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities, including autism spectrum, traumatic brain injury, and intellectual disabilities at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in their Special Needs Clinic for six years. I received my Master’s of Science from Johns Hopkins University in 2005; in 2014, received a Certificate in Advanced Trauma Treatment from the Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy Training and Education, Inc.; and I am member of the American Counseling Association.
